About the school
The El Platanal Virtual School is a project that prepares students for international exams in French and Spanish; provides virtual education; and is a school for learning life skills. In Colombia, a platanal is a place where nothing thrives. It is true that in my country, thriving can be difficult. However, there is always the possibility of entrepreneurship and success outside of the political maneuvering and class structures that trade on the opportunities and hopes of young people in Colombia.

My school is positioned in line with decolonial, southern, old, black, queer, ugly, African, feminine, southern, slow, etc. claims. El Platanal is a claim to myself and to the hope of entrepreneurship and education. Classes are personalized and adapted to each student's goals, availability, and learning style.
Methodology
​Classes are taught using a communicative approach. We always begin the class with a trigger document that arouses interest and directs the student's attention to the communicative objective of the class. Then, we tackle a written or oral document from which important linguistic, sociolinguistic, and pragmatic elements can be extracted that need clarification in class. Most classes focus on acquiring the tools needed to obtain international language certification. However, El Platanal strives to quickly adapt to the personal and communicative needs and circumstances of each student. That is our strength.
How does it work?
1. You pay for a package of classes.
2. You receive an email with the main instructions and the link to the class (Zoom).
3. You attend the class.
4. You receive an email or a post on Google Classroom with the notes and homework for the class.
5. You do the homework.
6. You schedule your new class through Google Calendar.
